May Pay It Forward

For the month of May, 5% of our merch sales will go to ALDA.

ALDA provides support, advocacy, and outreach for Late-Deafened, Deaf, and Hard of Hearing, as well as their families.

My friends Tina Childress (@techy.tina.childress, See Hear Communications) and Ken Arcia (@lens4arcia) encouraged me to attend ALDACon this past fall in San Diego and I had a great time. While it's name originates as the acronym for Association of Late-Deafened Adults it is actually growing to encompass the entire adult DHH community in whatever way the individual wishes to communicate. What matters is community and I've found a wonderful one within ALDA which is why I chose for them to be my non-profit to donate to for May.

ALDA is a non-profit organization, established in 1989, who's mission is to support the empowerment of deafened people. Their communication philosophy is "whatever works". Some of the members lipread, use sign language, pen & paper, gesturing, hearing aids, cochlear implants, etc. ALDA also holds an annual convention called "ALDAcon". Visit www.alda.org for more info.
