That Deaf RDH, inc is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that awards scholarships to Deaf or Hard of Hearing dental hygiene students

Michelle: I’ve known Amanda for what feels like years. We actually found each other on Instagram just within the small community that started a few years ago. We’re both hard of hearing, both mamas, both learning ASL, both in the healthcare industry and both strong advocates. It’s no wonder I wanted to team up with her as my first DHH affiliated organization to support! She started That Deaf RDH to help provide higher educational opportunities to today’s deaf/hard of hearing students aspiring to pursue careers in dental hygiene. Amanda: The deaf and hard-of-hearing population makes up less than 1% of the professionals working in the dental field. Challenges in this particular setting include communication due to masks, background dental noises, and a lack of deaf awareness. Amanda’s goal is to increase accessibility to oral health care regardless of circumstances. That Deaf RDH is a scholarship awarded to any deaf or hard-of-hearing person(s) attending an accredited dental hygiene school to help cover additional costs such as uniforms, scrubs, loupes, instruments, exam fees, etc. All proceeds will go towards the non-profit mission and helping DoHH persons pursue dental education.
